Improve body image and reduce Eating Disorder Risk

This interactive, cognitive dissonance-based workshop uses small group discussions and written and behavioral exercises to change the way you feel about your body.

An Evidence-Based Workshop

Based on 25 years of research, The Body Project has been widely found to improve body image and reduce early stage Eating Disorder symptoms. Further, the 4-session workshop has been found to reduce future onset of Eating Disorders.

Participants experience lasting improvements, including:

reduced negative mood

reduced unhealthy dieting behaviors

reduced unhealthy pursuit of thinness

reduced body dissatisfaction

Meaningful Change

“Society sets unrealistic standards for women and girls, but The Body Project taught me to think critically about how words can affect actions and perceptions of peers struggling with body dissatisfaction. I feel more confident in myself and my ability to dismantle unrealistic beauty standards for others. I learned that sometimes what feels right to say can promote unhealthy behaviors and actions speak louder than words.”

Which Body Project Workshop Is for You?

Appearance-related pressures are different for each of us. While The Body Project was created for adolescent (age 14+) and young women, additional adaptions of the workshop are specifically tailored to the experiences of other audiences.

  • "The Body Project was one of the most impactful experiences of my college career, both as a participant and then as a student facilitator. TBP was able to bring together young women from across all chapters in our Greek system. It led to deep connection and open, honest conversations about the impacts that the thin-ideal has on all of us."

  • "Throughout my experience as a Body Project Peer Leader, I had the privilege of facilitating open and honest conversations about unrealistic beauty ideals that impact our society. When given a safe space to discuss experiences with body image, it's like the fourth wall breaks and you realize that everyone around you has also dealt with their own body acceptance struggles. Participating in Body Project workshops is a truly unifying experience that I hope any young woman has the opportunity to try."

    Sage, participant and peer leader

  • "Being a peer leader for The Body Project was a deeply meaningful experience that strengthened my confidence, leadership skills, and commitment to mental health advocacy. Facilitating supportive conversations about body image and societal pressures showed me the power of peer-led spaces to create lasting change. Watching participants grow more self-compassionate remains one of the most rewarding parts of my college experience and I continue to apply skills learned through TBP today."

A Nod to Our Past

You might notice we look a little different! While we’ve updated our look to reflect the future of The Body Project, we want to acknowledge our original logo. It’s the visual foundation that started it all, and though our design has evolved, our core mission remains exactly the same.
